Patriots Match Longest Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Era with Win Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five scores this season
New England tied their best victory streak since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had scored first at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to cap the New York's initial series
But the Patriots responded in the second period as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the victory
