The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, according to royal officials.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

Father and son were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have characterized the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as assuming an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were introduced to participants featuring conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and government officials.

This participation featured addresses together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The COP30 summit will dovetail with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the COP summit on 6 November.

In recent days the prince referred to the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The monarch has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks facing us over climate change, climate change and ecological decline," the monarch informed attendees.
