Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr has apologised to fans for his conduct when substituted in Sunday's fiery match against Barcelona win.

Vinicius was substituted in the 72nd minute and displayed his frustration by heading directly off the pitch.

The Brazilian later returned to the sidelines and, following his side's 2-1 win, attempted to approach Barça's opposing player during contentious after the game scenes.

"Now I want to say sorry to all the supporters for my response when I was substituted in the Clasico," Vinicius shared on social media.

"In the same way as I have already done during today's practice, I wish to apologise again to my colleagues, the team, and the leadership.

"At times fervor overcomes me because I constantly desire to succeed and assist my side. My competitive character originates in the passion I hold for this club and all it stands for."

Vinicius signed for Madrid from his former club in 2018 for millions and has notched over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his prospects in the Madrid is far from certain with speculation in the past few months stating that Real would consider allowing the player depart if they were to receive a good proposal.
